Yesterday, me and some friends explored the city of Dublin! Our original plan was to visit one of the castles, near Trinity College, but we were told after we arrived that there were no tours until Sunday. Oh well. We explored a nearby park, and the city itself of course, and OH MY GOSH we went into some chocolate shop called Butlers...BEST. HOT CHOCOLATE. EVER. The one I purchased was a cookie crumble hot chocolate, and it had bits of cookie (maybe oreo...not sure) in it that enhanced the flavor of the drink. I KNOW I will be going to Butler's a lot this semester.
Anyways, we returned from exploring the city around 5:00ish, and as our professor had only recently uploaded the two films that were due for class today, we had about 3 hours and 20 minutes of film watching, in addition to three chapters of reading. As a result, it was a long night for me. The films were uploaded, and then taken down and reuploaded, so we could not start watching them until about 9:00ish. I finished my assignments around 1am, partially because one of my suitemates was partying in the common room, and the walls are definitely not soundproof. I had class at 9am today, so going to sleep at 1 and waking up at 7:45 was not the best idea, but oh well! I did hang out with my suitemate for a little last night and he told me that the two of us and our three other roommates are all gonna go out together on Monday night, so I hope these plans are a definite go! I'm totally up for it!
9am Class:
It was my first "Media Art" class today, and I will say the professor seemed really chill. There's probably around 40-50 of us in the class, which is the biggest class I have EVER been in, and she had us all go around the room and introduce ourselves, state our fields of study, and why we are in the class. This class is only once a week, and my assignment for next week is to ask someone older than me about their aspirations when they were younger, so I think I'm gonna like this class! The only downside to the class was that the classroom, to me, felt fairly warm, but other students were complaining that the temperature was too high... so as a result the professor lowered the temperature, and I sat there FREEZING for the rest of the class.
Food:
Okay...tonight, I am going to cook myself a real meal (of pasta). Since I've been here, I've only eaten pre-made pasta, rice, fried eggs, and meals that me and my group have gone off campus for, so I have not cooked a legit meal myself. I am making pasta tonight, and I DO consider myself a decent pasta cook, so we'll see how it goes! I find cooking to be very difficult (also, I am a very picky eater), but I am thankful for this experience as I will have a kitchen in my suite next year, and want to cook good meals for me and my future roommates.
